A NEJA goal is to bring to as many children as possible the joys and messages of jazz. NEJA's founders believe that young people should have a chance to make informed, intelligent choices in the music they hear and that jazz can thrive if a new generation of educated music listeners is cultivated. Most public school systems throughout New England have eliminated or dramatically cut back of their music programs. NEJA is determined to address that problem, especially in the lower grades, where the minds of most children have not yet been fully molded.
